Mount Carmel is famous as the site of the great contest between the prophet Elias and the priests of Baal, where the prophet showed the powerlessness of the false God and the power of the true God.Our Lady of Mount Carmel is the title given to the Blessed Virgin Mary in her role as patroness of the Carmelite Order. The first Carmelites were Christian hermits living on Mount Carmel in the Holy Land during the late 12th and early to mid 13th century. They built in the midst of their hermitages a chapel which they dedicated to the Blessed Virgin, whom they conceived of in chivalric terms as the “Lady of the place.” Our Lady of Mount Carmel is the patron saint of Chile.

Once again, In adhering to our Lady’s request of prayer and penance, the current trend that unless “all of Our Lady’s requests are implemented,” all is in vain in obtaining restoration in the Church and in the world. (RNS) Matt Bevin, the governor of Kentucky, recently signed House Bill 128 requiring the state Board of Education to establish an elective social studies course on the Old and New Testaments.
Kentucky lawmakers believe a course will “provide to students knowledge of biblical content, character, poetry, and narratives that are prerequisites to understanding contemporary society and culture, including literature, art, music, mores, oratory, and public policy.” MORE
