PORTLANDIf you don’t believe in God, you might want to move to the Pacific Northwest.

Portland, Ore., is No. 1 on the list of metropolitan areas with the most religiously unaffiliated residents (42%), according to the nonpartisan and nonprofit Public Religion Research Institute’s American Values Atlas, a survey of 50,000 people. Seattle and San Francisco were tied at second place (with 33%) on the list, and Denver (32%) and Phoenix (26%) were third and fourth. MORE

One Million Moms Accuses Olive Garden of Cozying Up to Satan

1-olive_garden-OliveGarden_0In the early stages of their campaign, the Moms have taken to flooding Olive Garden’s Facebook page with pleas to withdraw its support of the Devil.

A conservative advocacy group called One Million Moms has launched a campaign against the family-friendly restaurant chain Olive Garden for “sympathy towards the Devil,” in the form of its sponsorship of the Fox program Lucifer, which OMM calls “spiritually dangerous.” MORE

The Oscar-nominated actor had a morning audience with the pope Thursday. The Vatican offered no immediate comment, other than to confirm the meeting was on the pope’s agenda.

Why the Pope just asked protestants for forgiveness

pope-francisPope Francis asked Protestants and other Christian Churches for forgiveness for past persecution by Catholics as the Vatican announced on Monday he would visit Sweden later in the year to mark the 500th anniversary of the Reformation.

Speaking at an annual vespers service in St. Paul’s Basilica in Rome attended by representatives of other religions, he asked “forgiveness for the un-gospel like behaviour by Catholics towards Christians of other Churches”. He also asked Catholics to forgive those who had persecuted them. MORE

But the UK recognizes polygamy if the marriages were in countries where they are legal, i.e., Islamic countries. That means the UK recognizes the polygamous marriages of Muslim immigrants.

And so in 2008, the Blair government gave the go-ahead for husbands with multiple wives to claim extra welfare benefits, so long as the weddings had taken place in countries where polygamy is legal. MORE
