China’s Navy pulled into Naval Station Mayport for its first official visit to an East Coast U.S. base, a 5-day goodwill visit that will include a crew trip to Disney World. Times-Union reporter Dan Scanlan was there when the guided-missile frigate Yiyang, guided-missile destroyer Jinan and Chinese fleet oiler Qiandao Hu pulled into port with pomp, circumstance and some Chinese dragons.

Crab season put on hold – Crescent City California

CRABToxin levels to be tested weekly

The California crabbing season will be delayed until state health officials determine domoic acid levels in local shellfish are low enough they can be eaten without health risk, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife announced by press release late Friday.

The California Fish and Game Commission voted Thursday to postpone the start of recreational crabbing. This was followed by CDFW Director Charlton H. Bonham taking emergency rulemaking action on Friday to put off commercial harvesting.  MORE

 

‘Happiness advantage’ over age 30 is vanishing

Putin Associate Found Dead in DC Hotel
