CRABToxin levels to be tested weekly

The California crabbing season will be delayed until state health officials determine domoic acid levels in local shellfish are low enough they can be eaten without health risk, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife announced by press release late Friday.

The California Fish and Game Commission voted Thursday to postpone the start of recreational crabbing. This was followed by CDFW Director Charlton H. Bonham taking emergency rulemaking action on Friday to put off commercial harvesting.  MORE
