500 years after reformation, Pope knocks on Lutherans’ door

LUTHVatican City (AFP) – Pope Francis will celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation by attending an ecumenical service in Sweden as a guest of the Lutheran church, the Vatican said Monday.

In a highly symbolic act of reconciliation that would even recently have been unthinkable for a Catholic pontiff, Francis will visit the Swedish city of Lund on October 31 for a commemoration jointly organised by his own inter-faith agency and the Lutheran World Federation (LWF).

The surprise move will see the head of the world’s Catholics worship alongside the heirs to a religious tradition founded in opposition to the church of Rome and which once regarded the pope as the anti-Christ. MORE

Pope asks Iran to work for Mideast peace

iran-s-president-rouhaniVATICAN CITY (Reuters) – Pope Francis met Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in the Vatican on Tuesday and urged Tehran to work with other Middle East states to promote peace and stop the spread of terrorism and arms trafficking in the region.

Shi’ite Muslim Iran is the strongest ally of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, while Western countries back his mainly Sunni Muslim opponents in the five-year-old civil war.

Many Western nations also accuse Iran of funding various militant groups which they deem to be terrorist organizations. MORE

Argentina Scrambles to Fight Biggest Plague of Locusts in 60 Years

26ARGENTINA-web1-master675BUENOS AIRES — Farmers and fumigators in Argentina are running out of time as they scramble to control the country’s worst plague of locusts in more than half a century, officials warned on Monday.

The provincial authorities and Senasa, the government’s agricultural inspection agency, have intensified their efforts to exterminate swarms of the insects in the dry forests of northern Argentina. But their attempts might not be enough to prevent the locusts from developing into a flying throng in the coming days — when they will then threaten to devour crops like sunflowers and cotton, and grasslands for cattle grazing.” MORE

The Seed of Resurrection

skeleton-luz-boneResurrection of the dead is a religious tenet that may soon become scientific fact. The question is who will get there first: God or scientists?

Many great rabbis are saying that we are in the final days before the Messiah, and though God has his own sense of time, wearing a wristwatch that slowly ticks off the millenniums, he has been challenged to a deadline when it comes to the resurrection. MORE

VIDEO: Russia and China Have Started Enhancing Humans for Battle

cyborgIf you thought Enhanced Human Operations (EHO) were an extravagant fantasy of Hollywood films and video games, then think again. Russia and China are involved in EHO, the act of modifying the brain and body in order to create “super soldiers” who will have the upper hand in battles.

Understandably, the United States is concerned about the prospect of having to join Russia and China by going down the Enhanced Human Operations route. Continue reading

World’s Oldest Temple to Be Restored

01gobelkistoryphoto.adapt.1190.1The world’s oldest monuments may soon get an image makeover. A new project will promote and preserve Göbekli Tepe, home to the most ancient temple structures ever discovered.

Turkey hopes to eventually boost tourism at the site, which is in a region where tourism has declined because of the nearby Syrian conflict andrefugee crisis.

Since excavations began in 1995, the site in southeastern Turkey has changed the way archaeologists think about the origins of civilization. Its circular structures, with their elaborately carved stones and distinctive, T-shaped pillars, are more than 12,000 years old—older than the invention of agriculture or even pottery. MORE

EXODUS: Tidal Wave of Corporations Flee America…Seeking (Tax) Shelter

26subSORKIN-master675In the fall of 2008, with General Motors and Chrysler on the precipice of bankruptcy, executives at the car parts supplier Johnson Controls flew to Washington. The company’s president testified before a Senate panel and implored lawmakers to bail out the auto industry.

“Speaking for our company, and, I am sure for all auto parts suppliers, we respectfully urge the members of this committee, and the Congress as a whole, to provide the financial support the automakers need at this critical time,” Keith Wandell, then the president of Johnson Controls, said, warning that the failure of even one automobile company would “implode” the supply chain and lead to broad job losses. VIDEO: WHY HAVEN’T WE HEARD FROM ALL THE ALIENS? BECAUSE THEY’RE ALL DEAD!

In 1950, physicist Enrico Fermi raised a very important question about the Universe and the existence of extra-terrestrial life. Given the size and age of the Universe, he stated, and the statistical probability of life emerging in other solar systems, why is it that humanity has not seen any indications of intelligence life in the cosmos? This query, known as the Fermi Paradox, continues to haunt us to this day. MORE

Dear Reader:

hqdefaultAs the public is entertained by the media by making sport of Donald Trump (who I would hope is not playing their tune—yet wonder why he allows it), the implementation on the various levels of government of depriving children protection from perverts and psychologically deranged sociopaths has been seen by demanding schools allow boys to use the little girls’ bathroom and, if there are any curious girls they can see what goes on in the boys’ bathroom.
