000_757More than 1,000 Palestinian families have taken possession of new apartments as part of a large Qatari-funded housing project in the Gaza Strip.

Saturday’s units are the first batch of a 3,000-apartment complex that was announced when the former Qatari ruler, Sheik Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, became the first head of state to visit Hamas-ruled Gaza in 2012. MORE

Head of Russian Orthodox Church: ‘Rise of ISIS is because ‘godless’ world has accepted homosexuality’

PATRIAThe head of the Russian Orthodox Church has suggested the rise of ISIS is partly the result of the world accepting homosexuality.

Patriarch Kirill claimed Muslims may be fleeing to join the terror group in Syria and Iraq to avoid being part of a civilization that holds events like Gay Pride.

The 69-year-old said it was little surprise so many were joining the caliphate and that he could offer more ‘simply frightening examples’ of how the ‘godless civilization’ was growing. MORE

VIDEO: Staggering civilian death toll in Iraq

ISIS19(CNN)Nearly 19,000 civilians were killed in Iraq between January 2014 and October 2015 — a toll the United Nations calls “staggering” in a new report.

The report, released Tuesday, outlined the horrific impact that Iraq‘s ongoing conflict is having on its civilian population.

Much of the suffering was attributed to ISIS, the brutal Islamist terror group which has declared an Islamic caliphate across the vast stretches of territory it holds in Iraq and neighboring Syria. MORE

The controversial retired priest who is volunteering at St. Philip Catholic Church told parishioners that news media last week reported “misleading information” about him and “those who know me well would verify that I would not act in those ways suggested.”

“Personally, I believe that some critics did not like the strong stance that I was forced to take in defense of Catholic teachings,” John Nienstedt said, “particularly the traditional definition of marriage, and I think they would like to punish me for those stands.” MORE
