In today’s Gospel of the Wedding at Cana, many wonder why both Mary and Jesus were invited in the first place. What connection did they have with the bride and groom. While nothing in scripture provides the answer there are some legends that might help. It is presumed that the bride may have been a relative of Mary the Blessed Mother, maybe even a niece. The groom on the other hand must have been from the House of David which explains why Jesus was included and his apostles accepted with Him. Now as for the miracle of water into wine the rest is also part of legend…I ought to know because I’m about to begin it now. All that the headwaiter knew was that the groom had saved the best and choicest wine till last. He was so impressed with this new best and choicest wine that it would from then on be forever associated with the House of David. The head waiter even “named” this best wine after the groom himself. The groom’s first name…..Mogen, of course!!! And now you know the rest of the story! (Mogen David Winery’s) for those who don’t know. LOL
My response to this was, This was really the beginning of Christian Brothers Winery.
