The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis has offered to pay $132 million to settle hundreds of child sex abuse claims against its clergy under a revised bankruptcy reorganization plan filed in court on Tuesday (Nov. 15).
The archdiocese, one of 15 U.S. Catholic districts and religious orders driven to seek Chapter 11 protection by the church’s sex abuse scandal, said its plan would mark the second-largest such bankruptcy settlement of pedophile priest claims in America. MORE
During a conversation with Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre in 1980, I hinted about my worries over finding a bishop after his death who would ordain traditional Catholic priests and confirm our children.

This October 31, 2016, the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) awarded Card. Karl Lehmann, Bishop of Mainz, with the Martin Luther Medal, above. The ceremony took place in St. Mary’s Church (the Marienkirche) in Berlin. Lehmann is the first Catholic to receive this medal.
From 2008 to 2016, the year commemorating the 500th anniversary of Luther’s revolt, the EKD council has awarded this medal annually in a high-profile public ceremony. Its goal is to thank those who have made outstanding services for the Protestant cause in either a professional or honorary capacity. MORE
