Christians in China feel full force of authorities’ repression

Pastor Su Tianfu slides into the back seat and tells the driver to hit it.

He looks over his shoulder: “Is there anybody following us?”

It is days before Christmas, but instead of working on his sermon, Su is giving his tail the slip.

The slight and soft-spoken Protestant preacher is no stranger to surveillance. Su has worked for years in China’s unregistered “house churches,” and he said he has been interrogated more times than he can count.

But even Su is surprised by what has happened in Guiyang this month: a crackdown that has led to the shuttering of the thriving Living Stone Church, the detention of a pastor on charges of “possessing state secrets” and the shadowing of dozens of churchgoers by police. MORE

Nine American Priests of SSPX ~ Letter to Abp. Lefebvre

MGR DOLANNine priests outline the grave problems in the Society of St. Pius X in their March 25, 1983 letter to Archbishop Lefebvre and the General Council of the Society. The priests would be expelled the following month.

Your Grace and Rev. Fathers:

It is our understanding that the reason for which the Society of St. Pius X was founded was to promote fidelity to Tradition, by which is mean loyalty to the Church, her doctrine, more teaching, worship, sacraments and discipline. That such an organization was necessary was due to the fact that the reforms introduced by Pope John XXIII set in motion a process that has resulted in radical change, which constitutes a substantial rejection of traditional Catholic doctrine, morality and worship. pcars16_08Homeless crisis for those living in Vehicles

The south bay has a growing homeless crisis and a shortage of answers. Especially with those who are living in motor vehicles. With the increase of more citywide ban on overnight parking and with many more vehicles per household, street parking is running out of space.

One solution to the problem at least for the homeless would be to have the local city’s to set up a safe parking program that would allow homeless people to park overnight in designated lots owned by the city or nonprofit organizations. It is the homeless population that is most adversely affected by these restrictions so this is the least we can do to lessen their burdens.
