But there is someone who “knows” that, despite our differences, we are one. He knows who haunts us. It is he who is persecuting Christians today, who anoints us with (blood) martyrdom. You know that Christians are disciples of Christ are one, they are brothers! He does not care if they are evangelical or Orthodox, Lutheran, Catholic or Apostolic … That does not matter! They are Christians. It is the blood (of martyrdom) that binds. Today, dear brothers and
sisters, we are experiencing a “ecumenism of blood.” This should encourage us to do what we are doing today: pray, talk together, to shorten the distance between us, to strengthen our bonds of brotherhood.
