“Who, you ask? Roman Catholic women.”
Dear Diane Winston:
Theology, by definition, is the study of God. To speak of theology of the body would be to divinize the body—and, unfortunately that is what this so-called theology is all about as propagated by its disciples. Here, also, in this interview, pope Francis requests a “theology of women” as though one ought to divinize them. To say “Mary is more important than the apostles” is to compare apples and oranges. In Catholic theology Mary is compared to Eve, and Christ is the New Adam. Mary says yes to the will of God in opposition to Eve’s refusal. In Mariology (that is, the study of Mary) Mary is never contrasted with the Apostles, never proffered as a priest, as that is pure paganism (which is what proponents of priestess offer to their devotees). Adam is head of the human race and Eve is his helpmate (it can be read in chapter 2 of Genesis). Why these women hate being women is incomprehensible because they were given a role to be women. That they subjugate themselves to slavery is not Scriptural or a Church teaching, but the result of women casting off their role of being women and therefore their God-given dignity. As long as the woman continues to allow the ancient Serpent to deceive her, she will always find herself partaking of the forbidden fruit and suffer the miserable consequences.
Yet, missed by both Francis and the anti-feminists commentators like yourself, everyone, man and woman, submits to Holy Mother Church and everyone, man and woman, honors (as faithful Catholics) Mary as a Mother, and everyone, man and woman, honors their biological mother if they have any sense of honor.
