Dear Reader:
What does one believe in? That is what faith is. How does one live one’s faith, that is his religion. As Catholics we believe in God, Whose essence is Life, Goodness, Truth, Charity, Wisdom, etc. That is, we believe in Life, Goodness, Truth, Charity, Wisdom, etc. And our religion is living a life of goodness, truth, charity, wisdom, etc. But faith for Catholics includes what God has revealed, so Catholics also believe in Divine Revelation, the Word of God.

A True Story that goes with this “Our Lady’s Altar,” at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Las Vegas

When my Mom died in 2004 at 98, inside her bedroom, on the ‘Our Lady of Lourdes’ statue, was a rosary hanging. Thinking it was our mother’s rosary, my sister wrapped it around her hand at the Mortuary. I thought it was strange that Mom would have a brown beaded Rosary, regardless, it was too late anyway as the funeral was underway.
With Mom gone now, it was time to sell the house so I started with her bedroom and her personal belongings. Much to my surprise, I found in her dresser another rosary only this one had crystal type beads. Realizing that the rosary that was placed on her hand was just an ornament one that went with the statue and this one was the one that Mom used. So what do I do with the Mom’s Rosary? My sister, daughter and granddaughter are not active Catholics, and I’m not going to throw it away.
Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary to St. Elizabeth ~ July 2nd

Mother Mary is the living Ark of God. As the Ark of God in the Old Testament was a great blessing to the believing Obededom and his household, so Mary is the channel of blessing to all who honor and receive her reverently. As the Ark of God remained three months in the house of Obededom, so Mary remained three months in the house of Zechariah and Elizabeth and was a great blessing to that old couple. She is the treasure of all graces.
Mother Mary was the channel of graces to the family of Zachariah when she visited them. When she greeted Elizabeth, the child in her womb leapt for joy and she, herself, was filled with the Holy Spirit (Lk 1:41). This is the first instance of blessings imparted upon the earth after the Word became Flesh, and it happened through the instrument of our Blessed Mother Mary.
