The Satanic Temple has announced that it will provide pamphlets on Satanism to students in Florida, following the school board’s decision permitting the distribution of religious materials.

Among the materials that are set to be distributed are pamphlets on the philosophy, practice of Satanism, the Satanic Temple’s tenets. Also, the sect tells school children about their legal rights to choose to practice Satanism, according to the official press release. MORE

At least two people were killed as a major storm pummeled the Pacific northwest and California with heavy rain and high winds, causing houses to be swallowed up by the ocean in Washington as power was knocked out to tens of thousands of homes.

In Oregon the 80mph winds proved deadly, with a teenage boy killed when a large tree fell on the vehicle he was travelling in, causing it to swerve and hit a tree. A homeless man was also killed by a falling tree. MORE

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops is criticizing steps taken by the Department of Labor to enforce a presidential executive order that forbids federal contractors and subcontractors from discriminating “on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity,” CNS News reported.

The bishops issued a statement asserting that while they oppose “unjust discrimination” against gays, adhering to the order would force Catholics to violate the teachings of their Church. MORE
