Father Donat Gionet, a Catholic priest in Caraquet who was relieved of duties for anti-gay and anti-abortion comments in recent sermons, told CBC Wednesday he was merely teaching church doctrine.
Gionet, 85, gave a series of sermons at numerous churches around the Acadian Peninsula about what he considered to be evils eating away at the Catholic Church, including abortion and homosexuality.
The sermons took place the weekend of Moncton’s Aug. 21 pride parade. MORE
“Therefore the holy martyr Cyprian, writing about schism, denied to the pseudo-bishop Novatian even the title of bishop, on the grounds that he was cut off and separated from the Church of Christ. “Whoever he is”, he says, “and whatever sort he is, he is not a Christian who is not in the Church of Christ.”” MORE

Yes, they are doing something like this, but it is also important not to forget easily that these popes, out of their own free will, have vehemently rejected some core doctrines of the Catholic Church. All of them held heretical opinions even before they ascended the papal throne (In fact, a careful study has shown that it was because of these heretical opinions that they were actually elected by the cardinals). For instance, at Vatican II, Archbishop Carol Wojtyla, the future John Paul II, commenting on missionary activity in the Church, said: “It is not the role of the Church to lecture unbelievers. We are engaged in a search along with our fellow men—let us avoid moralizing or the suggestion that we have a monopoly of truth.” As Pope he repeated this in his abominable encyclical Ut unum sint and spoke often of the possibility of the universal salvation of all men. Are you married? You may think so, but the pope has other ideas.
Pope Francis has declared this year a Jubilee year of mercy. He has made it easier to restore people who have participated in abortion to full communion. He obviously wants to create some momentum for change and reform at this fall’s Synod of the Family. And so, he just took one major item off the table, by unilaterally reforming the Church’s annulment process.
Unfortunately, this reform amounts to vandalism on the sacrament of marriage, and is a deeply condescending insult to average Catholics. MORE
