St. John the Apostle Feast Day Dec. 27

A Prayer to St. John the Apostle , for a Burning love for Jesus
O Glorious Apostle, Saint John, why for thy virginal purity was so beloved by Jesus as to merit to rest thy head upon His divine Bosom, and to be left, in His stead, as a son to His most holy Mother, I implore thee to set me on fire with a burning love for Jesus and Mary. Obtain for me, I pray this grace from our Lord, that, even now, with my heart set free from earthly affections, I may be made worthy to be forever united to Jesus as His faithful disciple and to Mary as her devoted child both here and on earth and then forever in heaven. Amen.

Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to men of good will

As Americans and in other protestant countries, the Angels quotes for Christ’s birth in the Christmas cards is the protestant version. “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” Luke 2:14. The original Catholic version was “Glory to God in the highest; and on earth peace to men of good will.” Now I won’t go so far as to say that the protestant version is heretical but if we are to take the word Good, which comes from God and replace it with the word God, you have, theirs “God wills toward men.” and ours “peace to men of GODS will.” As you can see theirs the emphasis is on MAN and ours on GOD. Unfortunately, the new Catholic Bibles have, something like, “peace to those favored men.” or with “whom he is pleased.”

St. Thomas the Apostle, Feast Day – Dec. 21
Prayer to St. Thomas the Apostle
Lord Jesus, St. Thomas doubted Your resurrection until he touched Your wounds. After Pentecost, You called him to become a missionary in India, but he doubted again and said no. He changed his mind only after being taken into slavery by a merchant who happened to be going to India. Once he was cured of his doubt, You freed him and he began the work You had called him to do. As the patron saint against doubt, I ask him to pray for me when I question the direction in which You are leading me. Forgive me for mistrusting You, Lord, and help me to grow from the experience. Saint Thomas, pray for me. Amen.
