Raphael’s name means “God Heals Us.” In the Old Testament (Tobit 11:10-15, 6:7-9,and 3:17), it was Raphael who taught Tobiah how to cure his father’s blindness, after the ministrations of several physicians had succeeded only in making the affliction worse (Tobit 2:10). Raphael is the angel who moved the waters of healing at the sheep-pool (John 5:1-4). Saint Raphael is the patron of the blind, of happy meetings, of travelers, and of nurses, as well as of physicians.

Unemployment in September hit the lowest level since the Vietnam War, with little indication it is going to shoot back up in the near term.
