While Russia has been in the crosshairs of the U.S. mainstream media and the Obama administration for their all-out attack against ISIS in Syria along with the supposed “moderate” U.S. supported Syrian rebels (who recently handed over U.S assets to al-Qaeda!), we find out the U.S. just bombed a hospital, killing nine members of the staff of medical aid group Doctors Without Borders in the Afghan city of Kunduz. 1. Revelation clearly teaches that a certain class of good angels fulfill the office of guardianship over men. Our Lord said of children: “They have angels of their own in heaven, that behold the face of my heavenly Father continually” (Matt. 18:10). Woe to him, then, who scandalizes a child, or anyone else who is a child of God through baptism, or who is even called to be such, as all men are; for God has assigned a Guardian Angel to every soul. All these angels are “spirits apt for service, whom he sends out when the destined heirs of eternal salvation have need of them” (Heb. 1:14). Marijuana sales for recreational use began in Oregon on Thursday as it joined Washington state and Colorado in allowing the sale of a drug that remains illegal under U.S. federal law.
Oregon residents 21 years and older can buy up to a quarter-ounce (seven grams) of dried pot at roughly 200 existing medical-use marijuana dispensaries as a new law took effect.
Backers hope the law will help curb a flourishing black market, but opponents say it heightens drug use and access by children. MORE

A papal appeal didn’t stop Kelly Gissendaner’s execution, whichtook place Wednesday morning in Georgia nearly 17 years after she was convicted of arranging the murder of her husband. Pope Francis sent a letter to the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles asking that her death sentence be commuted and made it clear in his speech to Congress last week that he opposes the death penalty in all cases, saying that “a just and necessary punishment must never exclude the dimension of hope and the goal of rehabilitation.”
The pardons board in Georgia disagreed with the pontiff, and so do many American Catholics. MORE
Anchor baby, a child born in the U.S. to a foreign national mother or the father who is an illegal immigrant to the United States. Current U.S. federal law prevents anyone under the age of 21 from being able to petition for their non-citizen parent to be lawfully admitted into the United States for permanent residence.

After first refusing to confirm nor deny it, the Vatican has confirmed that Pope Francis met with the Kentucky clerk Kim Davis at the Vatican Embassy in Washington, where Davis’ attorney — who made the news public after the pope’s trip ended — said Francis told her to “stay strong.” And that simple encounter completely undermines all the goodwill the pope created in downplaying “the gay issue” on his U.S. trip. Tehran (AFP) – The Iranian foreign minister’s reported handshake with US President Barack Obama triggered chants of “Death to America” in Tehran’s parliament Wednesday and a warning against “another kind of spying”.
The foreign ministry has confirmed a “completely accidental” encounter between Obama and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York on Monday, without denying there was a handshake as reported by Iran’s semi-official ISNA news agency. MORE
