Widespread flooding in parts of West Virginia are leaving thousands homeless. Governor Earl Ray Tombliln declared a federal disaster, and the prolonged cleanup effort is in process. The flood destroyed entire areas of the state, cut off power to many, and washed out roadways. According to officials, more than 1,200 homes were severely damaged. On Sunday, the Federal Emergency Management Agency began accepting resident applications in the three counties that were most severely hit.

LDYLady Gaga has been barred from China following a meeting with the Dalai Lama, according to a report from the Apple Daily, a Hong Kong-based newspaper.
