eagleWendy Morrell was at home with her friend, Karen Ruddlesden, and two pet dogs, watching the French Open final, when she was met by a very unexpected visitor. Ms. Morrell, who lives in Broadstone, England, had opened her doors because it was a particularly warm day. Pope Francis in BethlehemDuring his recent journey to the Holy Land, Pope Francis invited Shimon Peres, President of the State of Israel, and Mahmoud Abbas, President of the Palestinian Authority, to come to the Vatican to “send up” with him “a mighty prayer, appealing to God for the gift of peace.”  This interreligious meeting will take place this month on the afternoon of June 8, on the Feast of Pentecost, and the Pope announced that a rabbi and a Muslim [cleric] would be with him on either side. Part of a multiday, unofficial visit to Italy to promote ecumenical prayer and interfaith understanding, Lee was joined in the private audience by former U.S. Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne; Lakewood Church pastor and televangelist Joel Osteen; Tim Timmons, a pastor and author based in Newport Beach, California; and Gayle D. Irish church under fire after research uncovers 796 young children buried in an old septic tank

littlechildrenThe Catholic Church in Ireland is facing fresh accusations of child neglect after a researcher found records for 796 young children believed to be buried in a mass grave beside a former orphanage for the children of unwed mothers.

The researcher, Catherine Corless, says her discovery of child death records at the Catholic nun-run home in Tuam, County Galway, suggests that a former septic tank filled with bones is the final resting place for most, if not all, of the children. MORE
