Russian Ships Enter The Mediterranean As Fighters Test Turkey’s Airspace

RUSHIPRussia’s mission creep in Syria seems more like a mission sprint over the last month, with a fully established air base supporting daily air strikes humming away and an Iranian-Iraqi-Hezbollah backed ground offensive, which Russia will support, looming.

According to NATO, two aerial incidents occurred near the Turkish-Syrian border this weekend involving tactical aircraft emanating out of Syria. The first saw a Russian Su-30SM cross into Turkey’s airspace and after repeated warnings Turkish Air Force F-16s were vectored in to intercept the jet. As the F-16s approached, the Su-30 crossed back over the border into Syrian airspace. A similar incident is said to have occurred with a Russian Su-24 Fencer. MORE

The Holy Guardian Angels October 2

Guardian-Angel1. Revelation clearly teaches that a certain class of good angels fulfill the office of guardianship over men. Our Lord said of children: “They have angels of their own in heaven, that behold the face of my heavenly Father continually” (Matt. 18:10). Woe to him, then, who scandalizes a child, or anyone else who is a child of God through baptism, or who is even called to be such, as all men are; for God has assigned a Guardian Angel to every soul. All these angels are “spirits apt for service, whom he sends out when the destined heirs of eternal salvation have need of them” (Heb. 1:14). These comforting words of the Psalmist apply to all men: “He has given charge to his angels concerning thee, to watch over thee wheresoever thou goest” (Gradual). Continue reading

Oregon marijuana storesMarijuana sales for recreational use began in Oregon on Thursday as it joined Washington state and Colorado in allowing the sale of a drug that remains illegal under U.S. federal law.

Oregon residents 21 years and older can buy up to a quarter-ounce (seven grams) of dried pot at roughly 200 existing medical-use marijuana dispensaries as a new law took effect.

Backers hope the law will help curb a flourishing black market, but opponents say it heightens drug use and access by children. MORE

VIDEO: OBAMA WARNS CHRISTIANS: GAY RIGHTS MORE IMPORTANT THAN RELIGIOUS FREEDOM
