Pope John Paul I quote: God is our father, but even more is God our...

UPDATE: No one picked up on my first sentence, “Let’s pretend that John Paul I/Luciani was a real pope.” That was the premise. Public statements by popes or bishops on questions of faith or morals that do not qualify as “ordinary and universal magisterium” have an authority that Catholics are not free to dismiss. We are required to give that teaching religious submission.

So, if a real pope were to ever teach about the nature of God, which is doctrine, saying that the nature of God was more mother than father, was he speaking ex cathedra? I’ve read the answers and I agree. No is the answer. Was he committing a heresy? Yes. What I am getting at is, even by the rules that the Vatican II crowd made for themselves, the fake popes should’ve all lost their authority. “In matters of faith and morals, the bishops speak in the name of Christ and the faithful are to accept their teaching and adhere to it with a religious assent.” ~ Lumen gentiumThe faithful can not accept evil teachings, though. The faithful should have recourse.

THE ORIGINAL QUESTION: Let’s pretend that John Paul I/Luciani was a real pope. When he said the following at the September 10, 1978 Angelus, was he speaking ex cathedra, defining a doctrine regarding faith or morals to be held by the universal Church? And if so, was he committing either a formal or material heresy? English: “Also we who are here have the same sentiments; we are the objects of undying love on the part of God. We know: he has always his eyes open on us, even when it seems to be dark. He is our father; EVEN MORE HE IS OUR MOTHER…. He went on to say, “If children are ill, they have additional claim to be loved by their mother.” Was he denying Mary’s role in our lives and salvation?
