Wildfires in the West are sending smoke as far away as the East Coast Sep15 by Joseph Saraceno The smoke was creating a hazy appearance in skies over part of Virginia, the National Weather Service said. It could also be seen in New York City. At least 36 deaths have been linked to the fires in California, Oregon and Washington state.
