As Radical Leftist factions in the United States conduct their desecration of historic statuary and monuments, their vendetta is now extending to religious statues. It is now not only the great figures of the Confederacy that are being attacked, but Catholic religious figures. The first victim was Fra Junipero Serra, the (traditional) Catholic Franciscan who brought the Catholic Faith to the Spaniards and Indians in Alta California by establishing there a chain of 21 Catholic Missions. The statue of Padre Serra that stands in the park outside Mission San Fernando was vandalized, presumably by La Raza racists, on August 17, 2017. The statue was spray-painted in red, and the word “murder” was sprayed on Padre Serra’s image in white paint. The Indian child standing beside the Serra figure, representing the local Indians whom the padres at the Missions protected from hostile Indian tribes and taught the Catholic faith, sacred vocal and instrumental music, and practical arts such as viticulture, candle-making, and animal husbandry, was also spray-painted in red. True Catholics, it seems that the world, both civil society and the Newchurch of the New Order, is sinking into a like chaos that followed the Fall of Rome and led St. Benedict of Nursia to gather up books and religious articles into his monastery at Monte Cassino, there to preserve Roman Culture until the Dark Ages ended. It did take half a millennium, but the true Church did rise once, at that time into the glory of the Catholic High Middle Ages. One cannot become pessimistic about the eventual victory of the true Church and of Western Civilization, whose divine spark the barbarians cannot suppress indefinitely.
