Low income isn’t what it used to be.
Under new income limits from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, a person living in Los Angeles County who earns $50,500 a year would qualify for low-income housing.
The 2017 median annual income for a Los Angeles County resident is $64,300, according to a new estimate by HUD, and people who earn 80 percent of that ($50,500) are eligible for housing assistance. Others who earn 50 percent of the median income ($31,550) are deemed “very low income” and county residents who earn $18,950 are placed in the “extremely low income limits” category. MORE
