Huge 19 meter high wave sets new record

waveExperts at the World Meteorological Organization say they have established a new world record for wave height measured by a buoy.

An automated buoy recorded the wave in a part of the North Atlantic Ocean between Iceland and the U.K. on 4 February 2013. It was 19 meters, or 62.3 feet, in height.

The WMO Commission for Climatology’s Extremes Evaluation Committee has classified the measurement as “the highest significant wave height as measured by a buoy.” MORE

Jesus was a migrant says Francis

migrantROME – The Christmas tree and Nativity scene are symbols of God’s love and hope, reminding us to contemplate the beauty of creation and welcome the marginalized, Pope Francis said.

Baby Jesus, whose parents could find no decent shelter and had to flee persecution, is a reminder of the “painful experience” of so many migrants today, he said Dec. 9, just before the Vatican Christmas tree was to be lit and its Nativity scene was to be unveiled. MORE

10 things to know about the Virgin of Guadalupe

web-rns-chestnut-oped-1209161. Many Mexicans aren’t aware that the original Guadalupe is from Extremadura, Spain.
In fact, Christopher Columbus was a devotee and even named the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe in her honor, after she purportedly saved his fleet from a storm at sea. The Spanish Guadalupe is one of several black European virgins, so in her Mexican incarnation she actually became lighter-complexioned as the Virgen Morena. MORE

Catholic Church: New Priests Will be Expected to Preach Global Warming

The Day of the Lord and the Signs of His Coming

dayofthelordby Joseph B. D. Saraceno

Why is it taught by Christians? “No one knows when the end will come.” The end in this case being the beginning of our lives with Christ after the general judgment for those who go to Heaven with Him.

First we have those who quote Jesus out of context. “But the day and the hour no one knows…but the Father only.”

Also it makes sense since the Lord expects us to come to him on Sunday, why wouldn’t He come to us on Sunday? The Our Father states, “Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.” So the will has to be the same. Continue reading

How Israelis put Trump over the top on Election Day

103downloadAt a post-election celebration in Israel, members of the Republican Party branch in that country gathered to discuss how their efforts contributed to Donald Trump’s victory on November 8. On hand were the president of the Republican group, Marc Zell, Tzvika Brot, Ariel Sander, and others. Zell said that despite the important contribution of Israeli-American voters to Trump’s victory, there were too few absentee ballots cast from Israel to alter the outcome of the election. But Trump’s popularity in Israel did persuade non-Jewish voters in the U.S. to pull the lever for the New Yorker, said Zell. MORE

Christians once banned Christmas

christmas-deco-broken-02It may seem like Christmas has always been celebrated in the United States, but that’s not the case. In fact, the joyous religious holiday was actually banned in America for several decades by Christians themselves.
