Flash flooding kills 7 in Utah

Fatal Flash FloodingA wall of water swept away two vehicles carrying women and children in a Utah-Arizona border town Monday, killing at least eight people and leaving five others missing in a community that served as a home base for polygamous sect leader Warren Jeffs, authorities said.

Three people survived as the flash flooding washed the vehicles several hundred yards downstream about 5 p.m. MDT, Hildale assistant fire chief Kevin Barlow said. MORE

Airbus guns for Boeing with new Alabama factory

AIRBUSalabamaAirbus Chief Executive Fabrice Bregier is laying plans to draw level with Boeing in the United States, its rival’s home turf and the world’s largest aerospace market, starting with a new factory in Alabama.

It’s an aggressive move, considering the European plane-maker controls only about 20 percent of the U.S. market. That share will reach 40 percent as soon as carriers including American Airlines take delivery of Airbus planes on order. MORE

Priest removed for anti-gay, anti-abortion sermons

nb-ii-priest-dismissed-antiFather Donat Gionet, a Catholic priest in Caraquet who was relieved of duties for anti-gay and anti-abortion comments in recent sermons, told CBC Wednesday he was merely teaching church doctrine.

Gionet, 85, gave a series of sermons at numerous churches around the Acadian Peninsula about what he considered to be evils eating away at the Catholic Church, including abortion and homosexuality.

The sermons took place the weekend of Moncton’s Aug. 21 pride parade. MORE

Yes, they are doing something like this, but it is also important not to forget easily that these popes, out of their own free will, have vehemently rejected some core doctrines of the Catholic Church. All of them held heretical opinions even before they ascended the papal throne (In fact, a careful study has shown that it was because of these heretical opinions that they were actually elected by the cardinals). For instance, at Vatican II, Archbishop Carol Wojtyla, the future John Paul II, commenting on missionary activity in the Church, said: “It is not the role of the Church to lecture unbelievers. We are engaged in a search along with our fellow men—let us avoid moralizing or the suggestion that we have a monopoly of truth.” As Pope he repeated this in his abominable encyclical Ut unum sint and spoke often of the possibility of the universal salvation of all men.
