beafatherA North Carolina father has issued a Facebook challenge to any “real men” who are up to the task. Though viral Facebook challenges generally include stunts like pouring a bucket of ice water over your head, Kendell Smith took a drastically different approach.

“I don’t really do Facebook videos or anything like that, but I guess since everyone else is doing a challenge, I figured I should do one too,” he says in a video recently posted on Facebook. “So, this is my challenge… to anyone who wants to accept it — see if you can do this.” MORE

Today, AP reports, Lake Mead – the main source of fresh water for Las Vegas and its 40 million visitors – just hit record low levels at 1080 feet. Most concerning – at 1,000 feet, drinking water intakes will no longer function and Las Vegas will go dry. As analysts concluded previously,“unless it can find a way to get more water from somewhere, Las Vegas is out of business. Yet they’re still building, which is stupid.” MORE

Fearing a genocide of Christians, the Vatican has given its approval to US military air strikes in Iraq — a rare exception to its policy of peaceful conflict resolution.
