The Apocalyptic Sign & Symbol that I chose in the late 60′s is to reflect the Church fleeing in the wilderness during the Great Apostasy and the END TIMES.
As the Church finds itself in the wilderness as a result of Vatican II Council, it is appropriate that Our Lady, she who typifies the Catholic Church, be displayed and honored accordingly. This is not something conjured randomly, since the images that are used reflect the importance of our apocalyptic days.
These images are surrounded by the references to the prophecies of the end times
† Apocalypse 12:1: and a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon was under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars.
† Joel 2:31: The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood: before the great and dreadful day of the Lord doth come.
† Acts 2:20: The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the day of the Lord comes, the great and manifest day (Joel 2:31).
† Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, who is first honored when Elias saw the cloud in the shape of a foot arising and bringing the rains of salvation (cf. Gen. 3:15; 3 Kings 18:44; Ps. 70:6; Isa. 18:4; 26:19).
† Our Lady of Guadalupe, who is seen clothed with the sun and the moon under her feet and surrounded by stars.
† Our Lady of Grace (Miraculous Medal) who is also seen crowned with stars & the serpent under her feet which also alludes to Apocalypse 12.
† Our Lady of Lourdes who begins to call her children to prayer and penance.
† Our Lady of Fatima who announces the coming of the great chastisement.
In 1967, I was inspired to design these banners of Our Lady of the Apocalypse to give meaning to the prophecies concerning the coming status of the Church. The Sun of Justice (Christ’s word, the new heretical bibles) is eclipsed by the moon (Vatican II Council’s new sacraments) covered with the blood of the souls it has murdered spiritually. The stars which fall from heaven are the many Saints taken off of the universal calendar. The Church, founded upon the Apostles (12 stars), is forced to flee to the wilderness, where she is in travail to bring forth Christ to souls, but is continuously attacked until Christ returns. On my banner the stars are in the form of crosses.
I hope you will spread devotion to Our Lady by making her known and pray the Mother of us all will watch over the Catholic Church in these Apocalyptic Times of the Great Apostasy. I am calling upon your help in adopting these pictures of the banner to be the symbol of the traditional Catholic movement during these end times.
Grace be with you, through Mary Our Hope, in Christ, Joseph B. D. Saraceno
When He shall begin to sound the trumpet,
the mystery of God shall be finished,
as He hath declared by the mouth of His servants the prophets.
